Professional Skills and Services

Proud Union Stagehand

I began my career in professional theatre and lighting while working as a student with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts Local #274 in East Lansing, MI. I am proud to say that after 8 years of membership with IATSE Local #274 in East Lansing Michigan, I transferred my membership to Local #14 in Albany, Schenectady, Troy, New York in 2013. I am proud to continue my membership with them as I travel the country representing my Sisters and Brothers in my IATSE Local.

Certified Entertainment Electrician

I received my ETCP Certification in Entertainment Electrics in 2016 while working at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center in Troy, NY. Throughout the process of studying for this exam I gained knowledge that allowed me to understand theoretical concepts engrained in the lighting elements of the entertainment industry. The skills learned throughout this process far surpassed anything I ever would have learned in the field, and I am thankful to bring this knowledge and these credentials with me throughout the rest of my career.

Touring Theatrical Technician

While growing up in a suburb of Detroit a career in professional theatre was never a thought and Broadway seemed like such a far-off place. Fast-forward a few decades, and I have spent more than 10 years touring the world with 10 different productions; spent 18 months working on 14 productions as the production electrician for a major regional theatre in the San Francisco Bay Area, and almost 3 years managing the lighting systems for a 4-venue experimental performing arts center outside of Albany, NY.  With all of that under my belt, I have just embarked on my latest and largest professional adventure to date; as the Head Electrician on the North American touring company of Disney's The Lion King.  Over the past sixteen years, I have fostered a unique blend of knowledge and skills that help me to truly understand the nuances present on the theatrical stage. This unique skill set helps me to understand a wide variety of production settings and allows me to navigate through them with ease and authority

Disney's The Lion King

Working on a production of Disney's The Lion King is a dream come true. I am thankful for the opportunity to bring our Rafiki Tour, a vibrant version of this remarkable production, to theatres in cities across North America. Our production moves between 15 and 18 cities every year in seventeen 53-ft trailers. The lighting rig comprises upwards of 14 universes of active control attributes spread across 26 universes. This data is distributed on an sACN network comprising 70 network devices including 16 managed network switches, all to control upwards of 100 moving lights in addition to LED elipsoidals and LED strip-lights and conventional fixtures from the ETC Eos Ti console. Myself and seven other members of Team Electrics join 26 touring colleagues and upwards of 100 stagehands in each city we visit to move this remarkable production to audiences across the continent.

Theatrical Photography

I have had the distinct privilege of photographing some excellent touring Broadway productions; with cast and creative teams that are some of the biggest talents in the industry. Productions photographed include The Wizard of Oz, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat starring Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, and the first national tour of the TONY™ award winning musical, MEMPHIS starring Bryan Fenkart and Felicia Boswell. Imagery of these productions and more are located on my photography website by clicking the button below.

Lighting Direction & Design

I have had numerous opportunities to design and direct the lighting for many performances, events, and productions throughout my career. I am thankful to the artists who have allowed me use their productions to express a visual interpretation of their art in illumination. Their interest in my visions and their embracing of the color, texture, atmosphere, form, and theatrical and compositional styles I expressed and introduced is more than a collaborator could ever hope for. Samples of my work, can be found throughout this website.
